Ant Control Services

Ants are very small and can enter your home through small openings. They typically enter through the foundation, siding, windows, doors, and vents. Fortunately, the ants we have here in New Hampshire are not harmful to people.

Ant Control Services in the Lakes Region and Central New Hampshire

There are many species of ants found in and around homes in New Hampshire. Noticing random piles of sawdust in your home? That may be a sign of carpenter ants, which can tunnel through wood and cause major damage to structures if left unchecked. Pavement ants, Citronella ants, Pharaoh ants, and odorous house ants don’t typically cause structural damage like carpenter ants, but they can be a nuisance and are difficult to remove.

To reduce the risk of ants in your home, here are some measures you can take:

  • Control your basement humidity with the use of a dehumidifier.

  • Trim all overgrowth around your home.

  • Confirm your foundation is visible and clean from debris.

If your DIY or prevention measures are not keeping ants from invading your home, contact Winni Pest Solutions for a free pest inspection. We serve clients throughout Belknap, Carroll, Grafton, and parts of Coos county.

Common Ants Found in New Hampshire

  • Carpenter ants are large and the most problematic, nesting in wood outside or inside your home.

  • Pavement ants are not harmful and nest inside of stone or brick structures, walkways, or driveways.

  • Citronella ants are most often seen outside and are not harmful. They are a yellow color and emit a sweet scent when crushed.

  • Pharaoh ants are a light translucent color. They create enormous, widespread nests with multiple queens and carry bacteria that can cause a disease.

  • Odorous house ants are commonly known as the sugar ant. They are often found in food storage areas, like kitchens, but they are harmless. These ants are very tiny and black. They prefer moist areas of your home often near heating units and emit a rotten coconut odor when crushed.

Ant Control Treatment Program

Our professional pest control specialists will thoroughly inspect your property and identify the ant species causing the issue. Depending on the ant species we find and the severity of the infestation, our ant control treatment service may vary. Once we locate the nest area, we’ll treat it appropriately. After the nest area is treated, we often perform a perimeter spray outside your home to prevent re-entry.

We use a variety of products and techniques to address the ant infestation. Our trained pest control specialists use insecticides that come in various forms, including sprays, baits, and dust.

No two ant infestations are the same; therefore, the time it takes to eliminate an ant infestation can vary depending on multiple factors. It’s important to understand that pest control is not a one-time solution, but rather a process that may require multiple treatments and ongoing maintenance to achieve long-term results.
