Bat Exclusion Services in the Lakes Region and Central New Hampshire
Oftentimes, we find that people are living with bats without ever knowing! Bats are actually very good to have around your house as they play a crucial role in the ecosystem. But, if you’ve noticed bats flying in and out of your house during dusk or dawn, that can cause a variety of problems.
Bats typically enter buildings through small openings in roof transitions, dormers, ridge vents, gable end vents, and chimney flashings. Bats can also be found behind shutters, chimneys, and in other small gaps that may not provide access into the house.
Physical contact with bats can be harmful (rabies!) and their droppings (guano) provide a breeding ground for a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum that causes a respiratory illness called histoplasmosis. Guano looks like tiny dark pellets and it's often found near roosting areas and entry locations. Bats emit a distinct, musty odor, but they’re generally quiet animals, commonly making chirping or scratching sounds.
Bats, although creepy, play a significant role in the ecosystem. They eat insects and can consume up to 50% of their body weight in just one night! To reduce the risk of bats in your home:
-
Seal all entry points.
-
Secure chimneys and vents.
-
Maintain your roof.
If your DIY or prevention measures are not keeping bats from invading your home, contact Winni Pest Solutions for a free pest inspection. We serve clients throughout Belknap, Carroll, Grafton, and parts of Coos county.

Bat Control Treatment Program
Performing a bat exclusion is a process that aims to safely and effectively remove bats from a structure while preventing re-entry. Once our wildlife technician confirms that bats are residing in your home, we then locate the active entry points and roosting locations. It’s important to time the exclusion properly to minimize harm to the bats and ensure that any pups are not left behind. We install one-way exits to let the bats out and seal all other openings to prevent re-entry.
All products used in bat exclusions are long-term weather resistant. Our goal is to seal the house in a way that is not visible. Once the house is sealed, the bats will be gone within a couple nights.
